Taxi's long saga of agony and dispair has been finally been put to rest, and I want to thank moderator BJ_M for personally stepping in and helping me troubleshoot the issue. mkelley gets honorable mention as well, as he personally stepped up to help me troubleshoot too.

    THANK YOU

Turns out that my problem was NOT audio related, but video. The video was playing back at a slightly accelerated speed, which of course caused the audio to play back distorted. After walking through my TMPGEnc settings I ran a re-encode on my source, burned it to disk, and it worked right the first time out!

If you want to read one helluva problem and maybe pickup some tips along the way, have a look here.

Thanks again guys, couldnt have done it without you!

This sounds very similar to the problem I've been tearing my hair out over. My audio cuts in and out when I play it on my player (Panasonic S35) yet I can play it without problems in Power DVD on my PC.
I changed from Pinnacle Impression SE as the authoring tool to trial version of DVD-lab - this solved another annoying problem successfully but not this one. I've tried burning with DVD-lab and GEAR - I get the same result.

I've tried reading up & experimenting with different media brands and manufacturers and from what I now know, it sounds miraculous that a home burnt DVD can play on anything at all Nevertheless, I am convinced that it can be done, just not so sure on the how.

I will be going through the suggestions made in Taxi's original post and trying them out. His comments in this post suggest that there was something else BJ_M helped identify that was wrong with the way the video was encoded in the editing tool he used. I would be grateful if you could share the info BJ_M provided to help solve the issue for Taxi.

Please help - this is driving me
One day we'll look back and laugh at how hard it used to be to create movies
