i have just backed up 1 of my dvd r with smartripper and it has left me with 2 files.

MPA T01 DELAY 0ms.mpa for the audio and a movie.mpg.

any 1 have any idea which software is best for putting these back together as an vcd or svcd.

They have to be reencoded (and multiplexed) to (S)VCD compliant mpeg using movie.mpg as video source and MPA T01 DELAY 0ms.mpa as audio source. You can use TMPGEnc or other mpeg encoder for this.

Well, starting from scratch, I'd get TPMGEnc.
Then install the trial version of PowerDVD to enable TMPGEnc to read mpeg2.
Start TMPGEnc, select the right PAL/NTSC VCD/SVCD template from the wizard, use movie.mpg as video source and MPA T01 DELAY 0ms.mpa as audio source and hit "Start" (and possibly go to bed).

Can't say I am - If you mean converting from DivX to (S)VCD, I've more or less given up, as dled DivXs are all crap more or less. When I do, I first clear out all bad frames in Virtual Dub, then extract the audio track and decode to wav. Then frame serve the cleaned video from VDub, using the wav as audio source.
If you mean encoding from DVD to DivX, I mostly do that under Linux, using DVD::RIP, which, once it's all installed, outshines any Windows DVD2DivX/XviD/anything I've come across.
