a friend of mine has a 'studio dc10plus' capture card, what programs would you suggest for a newbie to capture to DVD?
when he does it lines come up which could either be interlace lines or NTSC lines

The process/software I use:
- Capture with VirtualVCR to MJPeg encoded avi
- Edit out commercials and clean up with VirtualDub
- Encode avi to mpeg (I use MainConcepts)
- Author the DVD with DVD-Lab
- Burn the DVD with Nero
The Pinnacle SW seems to do all of this.
The "lines" you see could be because it's interlaced video and you are viewing it on a pc. If you make the view window 1/2 size. These would go away. The "lines" could also be noise from the capture from analog. If that's the case, I'd improve your source signal, and maybe clean up the capture (im not sure your friends sw does this). If your source is cable, and your card takes s-video input, you may get a better picture by running thru a decent svhs vcr.
Give some more info if you need more help. Does your friend want to replace the pinnacle SW? What do the lines look like? What is the video source? How's the weather?
