I've been using Ulead's VS7 for editing and would like to fade my video in and out either to black or white but can't figure out how. Anybody have any suggestions? I know you can fade the audio in and out but don't see a transition to "fade" the video. (ex. from begging --> fade in from black background, to end --> fade to black background).

In order to fade video to black, you have to use the Transition menu, which you can access from the drop down on the right side of the screen. Go to Transitions, the f/x and in there is the fade to black transition. Just insert in front of or behind the segment.

    Hope this helps.

    One other thing.

If you need to fade in the very first clip, you can't use the fade to back transition unless there are 2 clips to transition between. What you need to do is to use the colour menu (from the drop down on the right) to put a black colour as your first clip and then put the fade to black transition between the colour and the first clip. You can then adjust how long the transition and the colour play.

    Good luck.

    Scarymon,

I do not have a 'fade to black' transition in the F/X menu. Here is what I have in Transition/F/X: Burn, Dissolve, Lens, Mosaic, and Shatter.

I tried using the Dissolve but it has more of a dotted effect, is there really supposed to be a 'fade to black' transition? I'm using Ulead VS7, do I need to update the version I'm using.

    Thanks for your response.

Ahhh...Nevermind Scarymon, I just hadn't installed all of the effects. After installing them, I'm now getting the 'FADE TO BLACK' transition. Thanks for your help.
