Hello, i have recently brought a dvd burner so that i could copy all my svcd's and play them on any stand alone dvd player. I have used svcd2dvd guide for this but i am not sure if it is what i want to be using. What i want to do is convert all my svcd's to a valid dvd format so that i can play them in all stand alone dvd players and ps2 and xbox's etc. I used svcd2dvd and it changed it to a mpeg file? i want to know if this is right or if i need to create IFO OR VOB files because i have heard something bout this. I tested it on my ps2 and it did not work, it said insert a valid dvd disc???? so does this mean i have done it wrong and my dvd wont work in all stand alone dvd players?? can any1 help me or tell me where to go or wot i may need please? thankyou

If you re-encoded your SVCD mpeg files to DVD mpegs, you still have to author those mpeg2 files. There are guides to doing this (on the left) with various software. Basically, authoring software prepares the DVD compliant mpeg files to VOBs so it can be burnt to a DVD along with creating menus, etc.

Producing a DVD compliant mpeg is not the last step in producing a DVD that will play in DVD machines. Are you sure you had the right guide or that you followed it to the end?
Here's a list of SVCD-DVD conversion guides which wil take you through the entire process. https://www.videohelp.com/guides?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=SVCD+to+DVD&ossel...or+List+Guides
