Hi, Im a dutch mac user, and I import alot of dvd's from the US, now all my friends and family arent all extremely good at english, and would rather have dutch subtitles (god knows why)
anyway, Ive been looking for an app that can make subs, which I then can load into ffmpegX or the likes and encode the movie with self created dub track
is this possible? is there a mac app that can do this?

The subtitle tool (forget the name at the moment and can't check as I'm at work) that ships with DVDSP can do this, though it only comes as part of DVDSP, and that's quite expensive (unless you want to find it on some P2P network). I don't know of any others.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
BTW, it's called (aptly enough) 'Subtitle Editor'. Happy hunting.
