    Hi,

I am interested in experimenting with making MPEG1's with
Virtualdub. When I try to select a codec, I don't see an
MPEG1 codec listed? Is it called something else? I'm
pretty sure I have one on my system, because I have made
VCD's with TMPGEnc and Ulead Video Studio.

    Thanks,

    Mike

i believe it was called DVMPG or somepin' along those linez.
after install its configuration was in the control panel.

First of all VirtualDub only works on AVI files. Second, there is no 'real' MPEG-1 "codec". TMPGEnc does not use no MPEG-1 "codec" to make MPG files, it's an MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Encoder. It uses AVI (or whatever input files) to encode to the MPEG-1 format.

  4. I actually own DVMPEG and it DOES work with VirtualDub

I haven't loaded it in a long time - but I have used it successfully with VirtualDub

Really? I never of that 'codec' before. Guess I retract my statment about VirtualDub only working with AVI files. =|
