  1. Hi there, I can't figure out why my audio is out of sync with my video after making an IMG with Sizzle. Maybe someone can give me some suggestions, I don't know. Here is my process:

    1. Exported a DVD as pairs of AC3/M2V files in OSex
2 Took those 20 chapter sets of AC3/M2V files and created a 4.1gig IMG file.
    3. Played the IMG file in Video Lan Client and the audio/video was out of sync.
    4. Mounted the IMG file in Apples Disc Copy, same thing.

One thing here, Sizzle wouldn't process the IMG file at first until I figured out what the problem was. I originally had 21 chapter sets of AC3/M2V files. The last chapter, chapter 21, was causing the error. It was nothing but a 8kb black image, no moving picture at all. So what I did was just create the IMG file without including that chapter. So then I had 20 chapters in all. That worked fine, the IMG processed but the audio was out of sync.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Shouldn't be any if you are transcoding PAL.
If the sync is WAY out and you a transcoding an NTSC file from DVD, you probably need to select the Pulldown flag.
If the sync is just a little bit out (up to a second or two), then you probably have a mix of NTSC Video and NTSC Film (eg Dolby trailer + film). There is nothing I can do about this at the moment.

this is off their website. maybe it will provide some insight. ps you using the new version??

  3. Nope, I'm in the US, using NTSC. Which program uses the "pull-down flags' your talking about? Sizzle or OSex?

Trailer, you mean the previews or something in the beginning of the DVD?

  4. Try using the Chapter settings in Sizzle. Here's what to do:

Rip the movie using OSeX just as you did before, to elementary streams m2v and ac3, but don't split them into multiple chapters. Just keep them as one big file (well, one video and one audio). Be sure to deselect that last chapter in OSeX, so you don't include that (it's likely DVD scripts that you don't need and often mess things up).

    Okay?

Then load your single pair of files into Sizzle. There's an option to set chapter stops there now, and you can type in timecodes for your new chapters -- either something like every five minutes, or you can go back to OSeX and do that math to get the original chapter stop timecode settings.

Run that and see if you can get it synched.

Failing that, try this other trick, which is my favorite for disks under 4.4 GB.

  5. I'm using sizzle to back up some of my movies and some of my movies are split over two layers. i noticed that if you don't split the m2v file into chapters, there is no audio dropout. the dropout occurs when the file is split. i have no problems with the first disc when i'm backing up a dual layer, but since i have to split up the the file, the second disc has this audio dropout and there's nothing i can do. can anybody help me? maybe there's a way to add blank frames into the m2v file so i even out the audio dropout. i have several dvd-r's now where the audio is out of sync with the second disc. it's quite annoying.
