  1. Ok guys here is a weired one. I have converted several avis to dvd in the past with no problem. Now once ive converted and authored all the files into vob files, and i try to play them on my computer there are periods where the video gets jerky and the audio stops. I've tried playing them on
powerDVD and wmp9 but both play the same way. The reason this is bothering me is because I want to be able to preview these files before I burn them. When i play the m2v and ac3 files sepperatly they work fine. Also all the dvds Ive tried seem to work fine as well in my dvd player but I am woried about ending up with a bunch of coasters. Anyone got any ideas on why this is happening?

  4. Could be a lot of things, but most common is some sort of disk difficulties.

Even with a fast CPU you're asking an awful lot of the disk drive to deliver the video and audio to you on time. Lots of RAM helps (1gig or more) but if your drive is fragmented and/or low on space that's a problem as well.

If you have a dedicated video drive (recommended) and it's defragged (and it's 7200 rpm) with plenty of space left on it and this is still happening then it may be an IDE problem. There are sites you can google that will tell you how your system is performing in these areas.
