  1. my source is 512 x 288 DIVX @ 25fps 16:9

i'd like to convert to VCD and burn but my question is what settings should i use in tmpgenc? i'm not sure what to put in the source aspect ratio pulldown box because although the resolution seems to be NTSC, the framerate is PAL. and should i choose NTSC 4:3 in the video stream settings to fit on a standard TV? i imagine it's not good to convert from PAL to NTSC and vice-versa.

plus, is fitting it on one CD advisable? i used the bitrate calc and got 1039kbps as the bitrate to fit on one 80-min disc. the length of the movie is 1hr 27m and it's a dvd-rip, so quality is good.

    PAL

    Video:
    1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1
    352 x 288 pixels
    25 frames/second

I think converting to PAL would be easiest, since the framerate is already 25fps.

don't worry about the resolution. that is an easy, relatively high quality conversion. just worry about the framerate. If you converted to ntsc instead of pal your video would be jerky because the framerates arent integer factors of each other and tmpg doesn't know to do a real pal-->ntsc conversion.

  4. What progam does know how to do a 'real' PAL to NTSC framerate conversion? I have a PAL movie I want to convert to NTSC and burn to a DVD.

    cheers.
