My current Apex DVD player supports DVD-R's but doesn't play them back when I rip out the menus and or use DVDShrink to compress it all to one DVD-R. I was wondering who has a DVD player that will play back movies compressed to one DVD-R because I am just going to give my Apex to my mom and buy a new one.....

My Samsung DVD-S229 likes my DVD Shrink-ed (DVD Shrank-ed?) DVD-(R)Ws just fine from my Cendyne 104. Be advised, it does not care to much for CD-RWs, but "goes steady" with CD-Rs.

If in the US pick up a Sony DVP-NS315 or the model Sears carries. It was on sale this past week for $79.00. I took a friend to go buy one. Can't remember the model number. Support DVD = and - R/RW, VCD etc. I've backed up disks using DVD X Copy, DVD Shrink, and DVD Decrypter, DVD2One, Nero. Sony's units seem to play them all fine.

If you're in the states then for a low cost player I suggest the Mintek 1600 at $50 or the Mintek 2100 from BestBuy or for a progressive player the the Sony DVP-NS715p for about $100 also from BestBuy. All three players will play all formats plus VCD, SVCD, MP3's, and picture files.
