You need a codec in order to open your file. Get Gspot from the Tools section and use it to test your file, then get the required codec(s).

  4. I've never used it but i read that AVICodec will not only reveal codecs, but also tell you from where to download.. again, i haven't used it before--worth a try, though..

Did you run Gspot and then load in your avi to test? What does Gspot say for video and audio decoders? It should say if they are present on your system or not. Some codecs are available from the Tools section, otherwise search the web.

  7. When you open it in Virtualdub...go to File > File Information .
What does it say under video and audio ?
Some people don't like Codec Packs...but I've been using Nimo's Lite Pack for some time and it works great no matter what kind of file I have.

  11. Do you have individual codecs or do you have a codec pack?
