I just replaced my TDK VeloCD (24X) with the Plextor DVD+RW. Plextor has the reputation of making the best CD/DVD-RW drives, so I figured I might replace my CD-RW with a DVD+RW to do all my burning tasks.

I downloaded a Smallville episode from the web and burned to an SVCD using my new plextor and after 15 minutes or so in the movie, it starts showing some glitches in my stand alone player. I've burned dozens of episodes with my old TDK and never had this problem. I am using Memorex 48X media (the same I used to use with my TDK).

Has anyone had any luck burning SVCD in the Plextor 504A (or any other DVD+-RW drive for that matter)?

Is it a good idea to have BOTH, a DVDRW and a CDRW drive?

    Thanks,
    Alfred
