  1. Hi all,

I am evaluating 2 trial downloads authoring software - DVD- Lab Ulead MF2.

The source is Pinnacle 7 avi file for both, processed as follows :-

    1. AVI - Mpeg via TMGenc ( Mpeg audio) - DVD lab author plus burn

    2. AVI - Ulead MF2 author plus burn

In both cases, when playing on my Standalone player (pioneer dv737) the sound stutters at the chapter points.

As the chaper points are slightly different in each case I do not think it's a source AVI problem.

Have tried Tempgc DVD author recently which worked fine but too limited menu wise and refuses to produce standalone playable DVD+R(DVD+RW ok?) when burning with VOB.

Any suggestions ? I would love to sort for DVD - lab so that I can buy a copy quick before they suss how much this package is really worth!

    Cheers,

    Derek

have you authored with any other progs, and not had that problem?

just curious - I haven't had any problems with stuttering chapter point audio, but my burner and player play really nice together...

you might want to try another app, and if you get the same probs, you might try another burner or another brand of disks...

  3. Hi Housepig,

    Thanks for your interest.

After much detective work which I won't bore you with, I identified as input AVI file fault after all.

For quick evaluation of the two Authoring packages, I took a known good 2 hr AVI file (school concert) and redited it down to 15 minutes inserting fades etc. and then made another smaller avi which was imported into Ulead (direct)and DVD lab(via TMPGenc) where chapters were added at the at the edit points.

It would appear this second AVI stutters at the new edit points. I don't know why as the file plays fine off the studio timeline but Windows media player shows the same stutters.

Looks as though I've found an issue with Studio - but that's another forum !

AT least it clears DVD-Lab which is superb and I will now purchase.

    Cheers
