SVCD menus authored w/ Nero Express played on panny cp-72

I created a svcd with about 40 mpeg2 clips and the menus auto generated via Nero express, 6 thumbnails per menu. Burned to cdrw at 10x.
On the dvd player I can go foward and backward through the menus when on PCB (panny cp-72) using << and >> but I cannot select a track (get a red circle-slash in top right corner). If I turn off PCB the clips start playing and I can jump to whatever track number I enter but I cant go to the menus...
Is this a dvd player limitation or am I doing something wrong in the software. Do I need to edit the menus somehow?

hmm i looked up my player (panny cp72s) on the dvd player section and svcd is listed but subs and tracks are greyed out. I can get tracks to work, but not via the menus. I wonder if it is just my player?
