    Hi.

I'm using the 1.1 Trial version of DVD-Lab.

My problem is, when I create a motion menu with Text as button links to chapters points, some of the text buttons are skipped when playing back on my top-set DVD player (toshiba). So basically, some of the buttons will not 'highlight' or be selected when chosen with the remote, instead they are just 'skipped over'. This seems to happen on Text buttons that are of longer length (ex. PLAY vs PLAY MOVIE FROM START). Weird thing is, when I use the the 'SIMULATION' function to test in DVD-Lab, the button(s) are selected just fine. Is there a character limit on Text buttons? Anybody have a solution to this problem?

I've searched the DVD-Lab forum but didn't see anything regarding this issue. And, of course, I can't post there since I'm just using the Trial version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would turn off the Auto-Route and manually check all the routing between your buttons - depending on how you have your buttons aligned on the menu, the Auto Route makes some funny choices....

and since when can't you post on the forums with a trial version? have they changed something?

HP, thanks for the response, I'll give it a try...though I believe I've already done so...I'll post with how it goes.

As far as posting on the DVD-Lab forum, I just 'assumed' you couldn't since it asks for a 'code' when registering. I don't have a code, so didn't register, so didn't post. I'll go back and look into it further.

    HP,

You were right! I first used the auto-route then went back and checked and it had skipped a few of the text links. To correct it, I just turned auto-route off and manually routed the buttons...came out perfect after that.

    Thanks for your help,

glad it worked. I have gotten to the point now where I manually route all the buttons, partially because it's so easy in DVD Lab, and partially because of something I read about menus and interfaces in general.

The point was you never want a button that does nothing - you never want to leave someone on a button where the only way they can go is down, for example, because someone might be too stupid to figure it out, and get pissed that they can't go right or left or up.

So all my menus, when you're at the bottom of the list and press "down", you scroll back to the top, and when you're at the far right and press "right" you scroll around to the left, etc.
