So lemme get this straight.
1. You're asking us to help you fix downloaded pirated DVD images.
2. You are unwilling to accept the possibility that your software, burner, or something YOU are doing is to blame.
3. You're asking us to help you fix downloaded pirated DVD images.
First off...
NO WAREZ OR PIRATED STUFF HERE, JEEEEEZ!
Secondly...
What has happened, in all likelihood, is that the audio format is incompatible with your PS2. Perhaps it's MP2 instead of AC3. Perhaps it's JUST AC3 and the PS2 won't do that. Who knows?
They're PIRATED IMAGES. Pirates do all kinds of weird things to them to make them smaller to ship them around the Internet.
And that's all the help you're gonna get.
I'm BEING NICE, compared to what some others will say about your pirated stuff.

Hey Gurm,
I understand your postion on ethics but what do you think happens on this site? This is mostly about "backing" up DVDs. I bet if I look through your collection I might find one or two that you don't own.
Where do you draw the line? -

Where do you draw the line?
It doesn't matter if I bootleg the Matrix Reloaded, sell WinXP iso's on a street corner or download Metallica songs from KaZaa and give them to preschool kids. That's my prerogative.
If I post on this site about that stuff, then I'm violating the rules of the board, and opening up this site to potential legal problems.
Backing up a dvd, cd or game that you own is legal (at least in the U.S.). Some of the methods that you need to use to back it up are questionable (like DeCSS code). If you are posting here, people will "assume positive intent" and assume that you actually own the movie, or legally bought that copy of Maestro you are using...
...unless you are so stupid that you come out and say "I'm trying to remove the logos from my download of The Hulk before I import it into my cracked copy of SpruceUp".
If a poster is that dumb, the poster deserves no help, and as much scorn and derision as the community wants to heap on him.

1) buy the game.movie or whatever...
2) if you have to ask about "warez" use tactful words which wont get you in so much trouble.. "i have the game and I am backing it up..."
3) pirated versions or stuff ESPECIALLY that you download or left open to a multiple of errors theoretically. You could get CRC errors or it wouldnt be a TRUE complete file..
some DVD movies have two sound formats on them..
AC3 and that other kind (cant forget the name) I have a PS2 that will play AC3 files but not the other kind.. so thats probably what your experiencing.. X-BOX plays it all ( a better more ALL AROUND BOX IMO) so thats probably what your experiencing..
if you want to test this..
go download DVDSHRINK (yes its freeware) and open up the video.ts file and you will see what format that particular file is in. I am betting its not in AC3.
hope that helps..
buy the movie/game and back it up makes life simpler..
as far as drawing the line...
50% of us here legitly back stuff up
50% of us here rent and do the old "burn and return"
but 100% are agreed on the fact that on this board and boards like it, we are acting as if we are legitimately backing up owned copies. That;s the only way for this board to "legally" function. Don't abuse that right and mess it up for the people who are using this board as a LEGIT source of information to back stuff up. The more you ask to do illegal shit, the more chance of this board to be shut down.. and all the "LEGALS" and the "burn and Returns" are all shit out of luck. And that's not good for anyone.
Bottom line is, do what you want, be illegal, do shit legally, its your business, your morals, your decision. But do not ask how to do things illegally, or associate yourself, which will associate us, with illegal stuff.
I think the board cleanly states it before every post:
Do NOT give warez.
Do NOT link to warez .
Do NOT ask for warez.
Do NOT provide information how to obtain warez.
Do NOT advocate warez.
Warez includes pirate/bootleg movies
Dont ask us to help you with illegal shit. Use your head. -
Due to the length of your responses I can see this is a topic of concern for you all.
I'm not trying to create a wild west here. I'm just poking fun.
Sorry if it raised you blood pressure. -
Well, there are many of us that really have a fairly ... err ... immoral stance on it.
My PERSONAL take on "piracy" is that if it's good, I will at some point buy it. The problem, of course, is that you can't really "try out" 99% of computer software before you buy it.
Movies you can USUALLY rent, but often you can't. The niche videos that you can't rent... are also the absurdly expensive ones. My local SunCoast sells Anime DVD's for $30 each. THIRTY DOLLARS for an hour's worth of animation.
I buy an absurd number of them ANYWAY, even though I really can't afford to. It would be nice if I could watch 'em first, huh?
But the LETTER of the law is being broken in these cases. Do I do it? I'm not gonna say, but I bet a lot of folks do.
Regardless of that, it's not illegal to copy DVD's, no matter what anyone says. DMCA Shmee-EmCA. Fair use prevails. Thus our discussion of how to go about doing it is perfectly legal. If some choose to rent a movie and copy it... that's THEIR moral issue.

I'm not trying to start a moral debate on piracy or warez or bootlegging. That's for the individual to assess the risks, legal and moral, and decide.
However, the rules of this board - which we all agree to before we post - are pretty straightforward. No warez. And aside from the "breaking the rules" aspects of warez posts, they open up this board to legal problems.
That's the reason for the agressive anti-warez stance. It's not a morals question - it's a question of liability for Baldrick, and trying to avoid having this board shut down.
As for the DMCA, it doesn't address the concept of Fair Use, only the tools one might use to attain it. Imagine if driving a nail were legal, but using a hammer was outlawed. You can still drive your nails... if you can find a way to do it.- housepig

i dont know why this is even a debate. Dont find ways to justify "illegal acitvities"
if you own the movie you can make a backup..
if you don't and you copy or burn it.. youre making an illegal copy.
heh
anyway im done ranting -
No no. I was attempting to separate my "personal" stance from my "professional" stance, as it were.
My personal take on things may very well be one way... STILL fairly well opposed but with some exceptions.
My professional take, and that includes this board, is that warez = no.
