  2. I use IFOedit to split the cell ID's. If you remove the offending ID and rebuild the VOB and IFO files to another directory, you can then use those resulting files for recompression / transcoding.

  4. There are plenty of guides both here and at places like doom9.org that will probably explain it better than me, but the basic goes like this:

Open the first VOB file in IFO edit.

    Click VOB Extras

Make sure "Strip streams" is selected and a target directory. Also make sure "Correct IFO" is selected too (I'm not in front of my DVD enabled PC at the moment so I'm going from memory here).

When prompted, deselect the offending VOB / Cell ID (you can use DVD2AVI to preview the cell information if necessary). You can also strip out any languages / subtitles you don't need.

Make yourself a coffee while it does its thing.

Now load the first VOB file of the NEW VOB set.

    Correct VTS Vectors

    Save them.

If you find a guide that looks like this, then you're in business.

What I do is simply delete the unwanted vob's,make sure you leave there ifo files in the directory. Convert with DVD2ONE or DVD95COPY,works for me.

It is not very good idea to change the stracture of the DVD (that is what will happen when you delete vob/cell) if you plan to process it later on. It is much better to replace the "offending" vob with the "empty" vob. Take a look here for details: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=162930

  10. "replace cell" is one of the features that only works in registered version.

  11. Why is it not a good idea, Dimad ? So long as you've done the authoring / editing right. there is no problem. I have done this many times and had no issues whatsoever. If you're a bit clumsy with IFOedit then it's probably left best alone because you could bugger it up, but surely stripping out the unnecessary and recreating the VOB and IFO set has got to be better than shoving blank VOB's in here and there and hoping for the best... ?

Before this thread, I've never heard of anyone "bodging" a VOB like that !

Yes, you are right. As long as you've corrected ifo files it is ok. But sometimes this is not a few seconds task. Replacing cell is fast, will not affect logics in ifo files, will save space and will "practically" have same effect as deleting cell completelly.

    ...hoping for the best... ?
Hoping? No. Outcome is absolutely clear. Before the procedure there is an intro/warning screen, after - only few black frames that take only hundred-something KB on the disk and "practically" invisible when disk starts up. And all this will take less then a minute of someone personal time (some more time for IfoEdit to correct ifo file).
