Re-install XP

I will be adding a 2nd HD to my system. I'll move the old one over then, reinstall the OS on the new drive. It's XP.

Don't I have to log onto the web to uninstall XP off my old system?

Anybody heard of that?

And if so... where?

Marco, I recently stumbled across a neat little program that may help you. It's called "format.com" But, seriously... I've never heard that. Maybe you need to log on the get a registration number or something?

Get Norton Ghost. Then use it copy the system partiton from the old HDD to the new one.

Some new Harddrive come with a boot disk with software that will let you copy the contents of old HDD to the new HDD.

I've never tried them because I use Ghost and love it. It's the best software I've ever seen that could fit on a floppy disk.

I've heard that is a very good program. I have a copy but it is for win95/98. Does anyone know if it will work with win2k (NTFS)?

Speaking for the 2002 Personal Edition version (that's what I have) it will back up and restore NTFS partitions but it can't access them in DOS mode, i.e. you need to store the image on a FAT16 or FAT32 partition otherwise the image will become inaccessible. I believe the Corporate Edition does support access and retrieval from an NTFS partitions.

I forgot to add, I think pre-2002 versions support Windows NT/2000 NTFS in the same way as I mentioned above.

I called Microsoft. He said my key would not work that I would have to call back ( another #) when I got to the registering point...
