  2. This drive just owns all - period. It takes more ingenuity toget the drive to produce a coaster than it does to burn a perfect, verified disc. Glad to see this topic near to top and other happy 1300A users! This thing even burns those bad news CMC Verbatims reliably, just so you know...

Herrie is also a big pimp for expertly hacking that nice firmware to support my trusty 4x Princos, I think my boxed Yudens are getting jealous

  3. Upload my Nd1300 with herrie's firmware, but Nero 6 reported: "Drive is used by another application". When I upload the original firmware, the drive working properly.

  4. uninstall Nero and reinstall nero or just open(eject) your dvd drive before opening nero.

  5. I just tried to flash my 1300a with Harrie's firmware 105v11, and I cant seem to get it to flash. I followed the directions, is there somthing Im missing? I bought my NEC 1300a as white box item.

  6. How exactly are you trying to flash your drive? You gotta flash it under DOS.

  7. The 1300a with the hacked flash is great, but I would avoid Princo's. I don't get 4x burns reliably, have to go back to 2x to make sure it burns 100% of the time. Ritek all the way, the best.

  8. I think im the only lame one here, I cant even get my NEC 1300a flashed correctly...

    This is what I did:

I made a bootable floppy in win XP by right clicking A: and then format> make bootable floppy. Then I put the firmware probram & .bin file on it & booted up with that floppy.

At the A> prompt, I followed the directions in the readme file.
It took me 2 trys to get the backup of the original.bin to work, then I tried twice to get the -out command to work. Then it finally seemed to work, and it said:

    512k
    Updating
    .

Then all of a sudden, I got the a> prompt again, so I figured it was done, althogh it didn not say "completed" or anything like that, like it did when I backed up the original.bin. So I rebooted & in nero, my NEC 1300a still says 1.06 firmware, and I cant burn onto my longten001 DVD-r's which are newly supported in Harries firmware. v106 is the OEM version that I was using prior to my flashing attempt.. did the flash not take?

The problem Im getting with the Longten001 is that DVDxCopy Xpress, Instant Copy, etc.. say that they can not write to the disk, or that it is the incorrect type of media, or illegal media...

Im using the 105v11fr version for USA.

Did the firmware flash go wrong? I can still burn to a TDK dvd-rw though... help please...
