  1. I'm encoding using the latest TMPGenc with the following settings:
    mpeg-1 at 352x240
23.976 fps ( same as source)
    Aspect ratio is 4:3 NTSC
    Constant Bitrate (CBR) @ 1246 kbits/sec
Motion Accuracy is : motion estimate (fast)

    Audio is set to
    layer-2 44100hz 128kps

I'm only running a celeron 300 with 178 megs of ram, so I know the speed is going to be slow. I have done about 12 movies and they all took about 15 hours, but now I can't seem to encode anything in less then 26 hours, any ideas? (other then upgrade my system. I'm planning on getting a 1.4 ghz Athlon at the end of the summer, but until then i have to make do).

This is the second time around for this movie. The first time, like an idiot, I forget to change the fps and the audio was out of sync. Had to start all over again. Total encode time about 57 hours. oops.

Ell, even on my Athlon 800 with 396 MB RAM, encoding takes a LONG time. SO you are not alone.
You should clean up your system constantly: remove unneeded files, defragment.
Its good to use two separate physical disk for the souce and target files.
