Does anyone know anything about a Cendyne internal DVD+R/RW drive
? Staples has an add for this particular for $159.

Sounds like a decent drive at a good price. But before you buy it, make sure it's not a rebadged NEC 1100A. If it is an NEC........DON'T BUY IT. I originally had the 1100A and it is BY FAR the worst piece of hardware that I have ever owned. It ruined many of my blank DVD-RW disks, it produced many "coasters", and froze up my computer just about everytime I used it.
Just giving you a heads up on the experience that I had. -

I have the NEC 1100A drive and it has worked flawlessly for roughly 50 burns with a decent cross section of media.
Your mileage maya vary and every computer is different, so you may or may not have problem with the NEC. -
I would consider a burner that will include all formatts, both + and - media. You'll get more bang for your buck

You guys are the lucky ones. I was hoping that my first DVD burner (NEC1100A) was going to be good, but it was nothing but a frustrating experience. But now with my Pioneer 105 and TDK 440n, i'm a happy camper.

+ or -
I hear that - is a lot better than + but all that is really out there or that comes with new computers is +. So, what should I get? I like that new Sony that does DVD+-R/RW CD-R/RW etc. But its expensive and external. I would like to get an external + and - so I can go from computer to computer. Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch ! -

+ or - doesn't matter. One thing to consider though, is bulk media that you order online, -R will be less expensive. +R bulk discs costs roughly 60%-100% more than -R bulk discs. If you plan to buy media retail, like in staples, best buy, etc, it really doesn't matter what you get.

My NEC1100A has been faultless since I got it, unlike my other previous 2 writers. Not a single coaster yet.
