Anyone else have trouble with ASF?

When I convert my ASF using VirtualDub 1.3c, with video="direct stream copy" and audio="full processing, no compression", I get audio out of synch with the video.

Any good ASF to AVI converters out there?

Try TEMPGEnc. Load your video as normal, select your template and settings, then select File-->Output to file-->AVI file.

    Hello.

I have used VirtualDub 1.3c in the past, I left both audio and video at direct stream copy and had no problem with synch.

Then load the AVI into TMPGEnc and encode to whatever MPG flavour most matches the AVI resolution.

Tommyknocker, isn't that going to *re-encode* the asf? ASF already uses a codec which is compatible with AVI, it just needs to be re-packaged as an AVI, thus the "direct stream copy" in VDub. Or is TMPGENc smart enough not to re-encode?

And, funny, TMPGEnc has no AVI templates, only VCD, SVCD, and DVD. I've always found that very confusing, especially when I choose "add current project to batch list"...I mean I've already selected some kind of S/VCD template, so of course when I add a project to the batch list I'm going to want it to output a MPG!

Funny, I thought the original post said when he selected direct stream copy, he had audio synch porblems. Hmmm...

You do not need a template selected in TMPGEnc. If you start encooding without selected a template, TMPGEnc uses the resolutions of the source video. Hmmm...
    Hello.
