  1. hello>>
i was just wondering what all theses DVD formats mean e.g DVD+RW, etc..>>

what format do normal DVD's that you buy from the shops use? Are they also each different?

Also does that mean if I buy a DVD Writer I have to chose the same media type that the original cd used when burning to a blank cd??

    thanx>>

  2. The formats, either +r/rw or -r/rw, are only for recordable DVDs. The rw on the end just means the disk is rewritable. Store bought DVDs don't follow either format. They aren't burned, but rather pressed on to the disk. As for which format you should use, the choice is yours. Personally, I use Pioneer drives and -r media exclusively. However, you may want to buy ine of the dual format drives. This way you can use either format, and can shop around for the best deals.
    Sometimes, ya just gotta.....umm, what's the word........FART???

I was under the assumption that most drives were either a dvd-r drive (meaning you can only use dvd-r or dvd-rw) OR a dvd+r meaning you can use dvd+r and dvd+rw disks)

I know there are newer drives out that are both -/+ meaning they support any dvd r format +/- but if your drive is only a - you cant use + and if its only a + you cant use -

what type of dvd burner do you have???
