Yep....but it's what the Bill and Ted movie is doing a parody of.

Another hint - The Simpsons have done a parody of it as well.

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

Conquest10 got it right - The Seventh Seal

That's the old preist from The Exorcist, Max Von Sydow, as the knight who challenges death to a game of chess in order to spear his life from the black plague.

That's it, that was going to be my first guess. Almost always go with your gut instinct.

Looks like the "Guns Of Navarone" to me. It's the only flick I can think of with both Gregory Peck and James Darren in it.

    Hello,

I don't know - the spacy look of the sky reminds a little of the ending of abyss or contact but nothing I can pin down right now....

That would have been my guess. It reminds me of that one scene where she's standing on the fake beach. Didn't really like that movie so I don't remember it 100%.

Nope, you're all wrong. That's the end scene, seconds before the credits roll, from the film "The Quiet Earth." FWIW, I finally got the movie on DVD. It isn't sold on DVD in the US but it is in Britain. And, with my region-free format-free player, it looks great. A larger version of that shot is now my Windows XP desktop wallpaper.
