    EddyH, if this turns out to be some no-name film, there's gonna be a lot of people after your ass!

    My Neighbour Totoro / Tonari no Totoro. It's ******* Totoro man, 'scuse language . Guess I was right about there being no anime heads in here, either that or its rock-burrowing anime fans / anime-trendies, or your just yanking my chain .... Heck, even the traditionalists on Fark recognise it
    Only like one of the most recurringly popular features and set of characters in it's home country and several gaijin nations, a serious moneyspinner for the animation studio that birthed it (so much so, the main Totoro 'monster' is part of the logo), and part of the chain of films leading to Spirited Away which you may just have heard about after it won a minor oscar. Maybe. (considering how disney buried it and all).
    On top of that, it's just a plain good classic movie. Anything which can get away with a good 10-15 minute section in the middle with zero dialogue of any kind (save a small child saying "pollywogs") deserves respect in my book.

    Now you say about it, wish I *had* done some no-name film just to purposely rile everyone up... but someone prolly would have guessed it in the first post then!

    infos... www.nausicaa.net and go find the link near the bottom.. or imdb.com, www.amazon.com and just search Totoro (on both of which it regularly scores highly - like top 20. too tired/lazy to hunt the full links..). Enjoy!

    And here I stop being a borderline autistic nut, and withdraw from the spot-the-movie til next time it crops up as a new topic, unless someone else wishes to carry on

    Just asking... couldn't posting of this clip from a currently copyright movie be considered illegal????

    Nope...it falls under fair use

    Nonetheless, there are some traditional activities which have been used to illustrate when the fair use doctrine would apply. These activities include:

    small excerpts in a review or criticism for purposes of illustration or comment;
    a parody which incorporates some elements (but not all) of the work being parodied;
    quotations from a speech, address, or position paper in a news report; and
    limited copying made by a student for academic work.
    It's no different than posting a movie still/capture or quoting someone in the same situation.
