  1. I've been running V 1.15. Came to start it tonight and I got this message. I've uninstalled, re-installed, even in a completely new directory, and the message still appears.

Anyone else seen this? Any idea what it is?

  2. Appearently VCDEasy is no longer Freeware. It's set to expire March 21st which is tomorrow. Not sure why your's expired tonight. What day does your computer think it is. I think you'll have to download the latest version, which has some items disabled, or cough up some cash to get the commercial version. Head over to VCD's site and check it out.

  3. What features have been disabled in the new freeware version?

Will version 1.14 still work? Or are they all set to expire?

  4. Whats odd about that then is that on the pop up thhat tells me the 'test' version is expired, it says 'VCD is free, never pay to use VCD Easy'!!

I've re-loaded V1.14 and that runs fine, but when it starts up, it tells me there is an upgrade to 1.16 now available, but 1.15 is the only available download.

I checked on Tucows, and there it mentions a 'Professional Version' for $15..whether this has something to do with it I don't know.

Anyway, I guess all you North American will find out in a few hours!!

  9. I've downloaded the latest version and the limit is the fact that you can't work with a file larger than 400 MB. I've switched to "VDC Gear" from http://www.vcdgear.com.

    Good luck.

  10. Use version v1.1.4 it working fine w/o any time-bomb.
There is no reason to use v1.1.6 with all the restrictions.
    You can get v1.1.4 here --> http://tucows.nyi.net/files/VCDEasy_v1.1.4_Setup.exe
If you do not have it by now

1.1.4 will continue to work as before, and is even made available att www.vcdeasy.org. However, it makes me sad that the author felt forced to take this step (I fully understand his war against those who sell VCDEasy to the unknowing masses (I hope their phones melt, and their inboxes explode(if they have any))) but then again, I'm one of those who love VCDEasy, but never took the step to actually donate anything.

Thank you. The page was different before that. The format of style of the webpage is different and there was only 1 item news. I am now downloading this version and hope the MPEG analysis still works. That's the only reason I like it. I tried analysing the MPEG files through Virtual Dub but it does not detect frames that have errors unlike VCD Easy. Also, the analysis report was quite accurate.

  13. Well, it appears he is no longer hosting the last free version of vcdeasy 1.5.2 (if that is that last free one that is). Anybody have a link to where to get it (not the ones with the expiration date)

    Thanks

  15. What a sad development...

I warned all you people who were taking VCDEasy for granted here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=158485&highlight= that you should help delphi.stuff maintain the cost of VCDEasy's development and hosting. VCDEasy was the ONE GREAT S/VCD authoring package that was not only completely free but also the most powerful.

For all you people who use it regularly please don't be stingy and support the author by buying the newer versions and hence continue its development. VCDEasy could still be a lot better than it currently is.

  17. i had the same message appear a while ago, i think it was coded into v.1.15 so all users would have to upgrade to the newer version, and the intention was that the newer version (1.16) would to be free, but somewhere along the road the developers changed their mind, and decided to charge for 1.16. Anyway, when i went to their site to download newer version it said that v1.15 was still available, with NO limits and NO expirationdate! so i downloaded, and it works, and will continue with that. the full unlimited free version of 1.15 must be available SOMEWHERE on the web.

But guys, this is the one time when you actually get someting for the money, v1.16 is CHEAP, and VCDEasy rulez bigtime, i am sure im not the only one here who took out my Visa card for worse and more expensive things than this. What about those 9.95's for 1 week trial on those pornsites, then 1 week regreting it? 15 USD/Euro is CHEAP when talking about a program of this quality.

I made hundreds of SVCDs with VCDeasy but stopped
when I got a DVD burner over a year ago.
I tried to make one recently and got the Time Bomb.
I then got 1152 and immediately made 2 coasters and don't
    know why.
I found 113 hidden on the computer and it made a good SVCD.

Anybody having trouble with 1152 ?

  20. I'm new here and just read the rules; I assume that links to After Dawn are legitimate and welcome here.

  21. The timebomb on 1.1.5 isn't very sophisticated. Some programs will drop something into the registry so you can't just turn back the clock but this hasn't been implimented. I've just turned mine back a year and it works fine.

It's unfortunate that the author has taken this step. I tried to contact before this happened about alternatives to donating on line as I didn't have a credit card and got no response. It's wierd that he has gone this far when, as has been stated, there always seemed to be a philosophy of 'never pay' rather than free betas until the final commercial version. That, as well as the features, was always one of the attractions. I think it will decrease the use of the software from now on. It's worth $30 odd australian dollars now, which is good value for money I suppose for what it does, but a reasonable explanation on the website is warranted. Perhaps one will be forthcoming soon.
