    You use Virtual Dub MPEG-2 mod to frameserve your VOB to TMPGEnc, then have TMPGEnc convert it to MPEG-2.

    best way ive found with superb quality, is once youve got yer vob files on yer comp, (using dvddecrypter, i use that no probs)

    is to the use dvd2avi, but dont worry about the name, you isnt actaully gonna do an avi, but the prog can save a "project" that tmpgenc understands, there is a guide on this site that tells you how, and i use that method all the time

    its full proof, never had a prob, i have never "frame served" anything no need to (sorry tommy)

    when it says smartripper i dont use that, dvddecrypter is better, its easier and knows where the main film vobs are and saves these to hardrive
