I downloaded this video, but all of the images looked stretched. The video is fullscreen, but because of this stretching effect it looks to me as if it was originally supposed to be widescreen and someone changed it or something. Is there any way to change it back to widescreen? Thanks.

I'm not sure what you have planned for this downloaded file, but if you want to make it a DVD just set the video stream type as 16:9 (?) in your DVD authoring program. It should then display in letterbox on 4:3 monitors and anamorpic on 16:9 monitors.

Well, it's an XVid file. I planned to watch it off of my computer through my TV using a TV-Out plug and RCA cable. The software I use to watch it is PowerDVD.

OK, I think I know what you want. Without changing the movie itself you can either view the video on a 16:9 display and have the display stretch the video into its correct acpect radio, or have PowerDVD change the aspect ratio of the display window. Since you are outputing the video to your tv, you probably won't be about to view the video in full screen mode.
Otherwise you will have the change the video itself. -
I'd rather just change the video itself. Is that hard to do? What tools do I need to change an XVid file like that? Thanks again.

Like the other person said, TMPGEnc is a good choice. Just be to select a 16:9 aspect ratio as your source and a 4:3 ratin for you final then process away. After 20 min to a couple of hours based off how fast your computer is, you should get a nice new mpg file with you video letterboxed to the correct ratio. Play it and enjoy on you tv.
