I encoded using TMPGEnc video MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps (4:3) NTSC and audio MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2 48000 Hz Stereo, 128 kbps (Monolingual). Actually I selected Joint-Stereo under the audio tab. I then used TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the DVD. I burned the Memorex DVD-R with Veritas RecordNow on my Sony DRU500A.
Of course the DVD works fine on both my computers but doesn't on the three DVD players that I tried. On the Pioneer DV414 and a sony DVD player, the sound just pops in for a fraction of a second every second or two. The video displays fine. On a Panasonic S35S the sound comes in like a car horn (screeches) and the video displays for about five seconds and then goes gray for a second (continuously). The player I own is the Pioneer DV414 which doesn't handle the DVD RW discs (otherwise I would be doing more experimenting). I don't want to burn a bunch of discs trying to find the problem.
Any ideas?
