  1. I've got 2 computers I'm swaping video's from/to. One is a Windows ME system while the other is Windows 98. Both have all 3 DiVx Codecs installed (3.11a, 4, and 5). The Windows 98 PC plays all of the files just fine. The Windows ME system however seems to have problems with half of the mpg files I play where it will only play the first 1 minute or so of a 10+ minute video. If I want to get that 10+ minute video to play on that computer, I have to open it in virtualdub and re-encode the file in DiVx 5. The problem is every time I do this, it takes time for one, and it always takes up more space re-encoded than the original file thus making some files that would normally fit onto a single CD be too large to fit on a single CD, and eating a lot more HDD space.

Anyone have any idea's why I have this problem? I've tried re-installing all 3 codecs, installing the latest version of WM Player, and using other players such as Zoom etc.. both PC's also have the latest video drivers installed (Windows ME system running a Geforce 4 Ti-4200 128meg and the Win98 machine is running a Geforce 2 Ti 64 meg).

If you have any idea's please let me know...

  2. To elaborate on the only playing 1 minute of the video, it only recognizes the file as a 1 minute file. It doesn't even recognize it as being the full size. My windows 98 system that everything works fine on is actually using an older version of Windows Media Player.... So it just doesn't make sense...

  3. I fixed the problem.. yay.. I tried playing the files in my DVD program and it played fine. Than I tried loading it in one of my regular video programs and that same video played fine all of the sudden. I tried another video I was having problems with and it still gave me problems.. opened it in the DVD program and it played fine.. then back to regular program and it was fine.. I re-installed Mpeg2 drivers and now all of them play just fine =)

    Thanks anyways =)
