  1. Has anyone else seen DVD's that are TOO BIG to back up? (And I mean movie only, not the whole DVD wtih menu's, etc)

I have an anime DVD, trying to backup. I used DVD Shrink 2.3 and it cannot compress to fit to 4.38 GB. No matter what compression I pick (except for still pictures) it is too big.

So I gave up on the menus, etc. However it still will not fit. There is only 1 audio track, so nothing to drop there, and 2 flavors of subtitles (Chinese and English) that hardly take up any space. There is only one video selection, and I cannot compress it any more.

Incidentally, some DVD's I put in allow me to do up to level 10 compression, this particular DVD only lets me go to level 7 compression - anyone know why?

Thanks for any tips to help me back this up. I'm in the process of trying DVDFab but I really dislike the idea of spreading across 2 DVD's. I'm looking for help to put this on a single DVD.

  2. Hey,

Just use DVD2One and set the size to 4300MB.

press the process button and you're in business.

  3. Hey,

Instant Copy worth trying. There are hidden registery settings allow you to ignore error for size.
I have same problem and I used Instant Copy and it worked.

    Good Luck- B

Well you either have to compress the movie to make it fit on a single DVD recordable disc or you can retain the original quality but split it out over 2 DVD recordable discs.

    For compression I use DVD2ONE
For splitting it out over 2 I've been toying around with a new FREEWARE tool called DVDFab and it is VERY kewl but right now it is in BETA stages so it might not work 100% with all DVD sources.

    P.S.
When I use DVD2ONE I use a setting of 4350MB which seems to work well. It gets close to filling up a DVD recordable without getting TOO close to filling it up (which is BAD).

Oh yes ... one more link ... the doom9 website has an excellent guide on using DVD2ONE
