Found this on a Pioneer Firmware update page for 105 A05.
These updates are specific to DVD-R/RW For General Version 2.0 media use.
If you are using older DVD-R for general Version 1.1 media it is recommended that you use up all this media before updating the firmware as after doing so this media may no longer be recognised by the writer or writing software being used. After the FW update only use DVD-R/RW For General Version 2.0 media. This will ensure that the writer provides optimum performance.
What is all this about?
Could it be why I can't get any DVD-RW I've burned in my Pioneer A05 to play in my Acoustic 551 player when others say they have managed it?
(Does the player only read version 1.1 media perhaps?)
Could it be why my Pioneer A05 has just completely messed up on
three Princo - not brand named - DVD-RW 1x (none of them are readable, and they even make the computer crash once they are burned!) while it has burned other discs without any problem? Is the A05 firmware incompatible with these discs that were sold to me as Princos?
All very mysterious!
Andy

CoolAndy,
I don't have a direct answer for you, but I found this link that explains some of the Version 2.0 specifics.
