Just wondering what the process is. I mean, since my TV is NTSC, the DVD player must be sending it 60 fields/second of video. So what happens when I play a PAL S/VCD? Anybody know the inside scoop?
Since my DVD player plays both PAL and NTSC video just fine, I've been converting my PAL AVI's to PAL S/VCD to avoid frequency conversion. But I'm wondering if it's possible to get greater quality by converting PAL to FILM...or is the standalone DVD player's conversion as good as it gets? I'm betting the extra effort of doing a good PAL AVI to FILM SVCD conversion is not worth the minimal increase in quality, but I figured I'd ask anyway to see what the prevailing logic was.
