    INTERNAL TARGET ERROR is a
"SCSI SENSE CODE ERROR" of some sort

    so do as BALDRICK suggested..
Something is keeping the current software from completing
its write cycle to the drive..
after installing new burning software, plese make sure there's not a packet writing component running from the previos package (or remove all portions of the malfunctioning app)

Make sure the IDE controller you are on for the Pioneer is on PIO mode only if using Win 2k3 Server or Win XP. That is what worked for me when I had the same problem. DMA mode doesn't work for me.

  7. I was getting this error just about every time I burned. It stopped doing it when I flashed the firmware back to the orginal 1.21. The hacked 1.33(or is it 1.3?) was causing problems.

I was also getting calibration errors.

I'm still having problems with getting errors near the end of the discs, but I'm hoping this is a media problem

Right click on "My Computer". Left click on "Properties". Click on the "Hardware" tab at the top. Click on "Device Manager". Go down until you see the "IDE / ATA controllers". Click on the little "+" sign. Double click on whichever controller (primary or secondary) your DVD writer is connected to and under "Advanced Settings" you will see "Device 0" for master and "Device 1" for the slave. Whichever it is, change that device to 'PIO only".

  10. I have the same error trying to erase a Maxell DVD-RW with my LG burner.

    After trying everything I can imagine ( different O.S. , software, DMA on/off, master/slave, ...) the conclusion I achieved is....BAD MEDIA

Yes, I have seen bad media cause that error also, but maybe mistakenly I would hope the poster would have tried more than one disc before posting that it is a "problem".

You will not "see" any DVD-RW or any specific device. You will see the "Primair" and "Secundair" IDE controllers. You need to know which controller your DVD-RW is connected to to change that controller to PIO. Double click on the controller that the DVD-RW is on and go into "Advanced settings".

So if you have the DVD-RW as a slave on the first IDE controller to your hard drive, that would be "Primair" controller, device 1. If you have it set up as the master on the "Secundair" IDE controller, it would be "Secundair", device 0. Follow my instructions carefully. I can't get any more specific because I don't know how you have your computer configured.

Not sure what to tell you at this point. Did you try a different "brand" of media and not just another disc ?

  18. Which is the nanya DVD-R media code? Maybe it's PRNCO too, wouldn't be strange. You need DVDInfo or similar to get it.
