movie doesn't fit on one or two CD's

hi,
i just made my first own movie of a wedding. The problem ist that the 80 minutes clip is about 4 Gigabyte big, so that i would need more than 4 CD's to burn it.
Is there any possibility to bring it down to smaller size without having a low-quality movie?

may i ask how did you encode an 80 minute clip to 4GB large? wat settings/encoder did you use?

Do you know what's .mpg files and how to convert your .avi to .mpg file? I think you dont't. I'm right??

I know what mpeg is. The movie is in mpeg2 format, but i encoded it with the highest quality, possible with my Studio DV Software (DVD quality)??? Int he AVI format it would have been greater than 20 gig!

I did want to be rude. Sorry, because I did not understand your question.
I see no way. You must lose quality if you want to fit your .mpg file in 1 or 2 CDs.
The TMPGenc VCD template (standart) looks great for me in my DVD Player Unit.

Well, the filesize depends on the bitrate. If you used the HQ settings, it may be a bitrate of 5000-6000 kbps. I think you have to burn it as DVD or if you have a very fast DVD drive (standalone) you may be able to play it as XSVCD. If you want to have a smaller filesize you have to reencode it.

First, unless you have a DVD-R you can't burn a DVD source, and most DVD players can't read 6000kbit/s, (max is normally ~2800kbit/s total).

If you have an 80min video source, your best bet is to make 2 40min SVCDs (filling each disc). That's pretty close the the max bitrate of most players too.

Hey Philips,

if you use Studio DV to create MPEG-2 at DVD quality, then the 4GB file size is about right.

Why do you want to burn this huge MPEG file on CD. Even after splitting to 5 or 6 CDs, no DVD player can play those.

If you want to play your CD with your stand alone DVD player, then follow Vejita-sama's advise. It's going to work.

BTW, do not use Studio DV to generate SVCD MPEG-2 file. The quality is horrible. Use TMPGEnc instead.
