Can't Open Capture Device - ATI TV Wonder

I just decided to reinstall my Tv Wonder and attempt to caputre from my vcr in order to make some vcd's. Unfortunately, I can't capture with anything but MMC7. DVR & VirtualDub both give me "Cannot open capture device" errors. (DVR then gives a MSVCRT.DLL error and closes)

I've got all the proper DirectX 8 updates and the drivers for the TV Wonder from ATI and the card is on it's own IRQ from what I can tell. I'm running WindowsME on an ASUS p3v4x, p3 500, 383mb ram, ATIXpert2k video.

Also, I remember being able to capture directly into Premiere when I ran this card on the same system with Win98se.

Any helps would be great... this is kind of bugging me.

The MMC7.1 has has WDM drivers which are not supported by virtualdub and mnay other programs. You can make virtualdub work by linking it to a VFW (Video fo rWinsows) wrapper for WDM. However, I have found that this is highly unsatisfactory and performs very badly under windows me.
You cna go back to your old state by using restore.


One silver lining is the MMC7.1 capture in mpeg and mpeg2 are of much higher quality than the old VFW solution. This allows you to brun VCD without further encoding.
