  1. Hi,

I'm currently running 10.1.4 and know I need to upgrade to 10.2 to use DVD2oneX. My question, can I still install system 9.2 and boot to it when needed? I need to be able to use Pagemaker.

I did check on Apple's website but didn't find my answer.

    Thanks, Jerry

Yes, thats the beauty of it. however, keep in mind if you decide to get a new computer, especially the G5's that are newly out - the new machines dont boot into OS9.

You can supposedly "trick" them but its not designed to boot to OS9

For your purpose, you can however. Install 10.2 and your good to go, (assuming you also have 9 already on your computer - no extra 9 installation required, unless your updating to 9.2.2)

Its recommended to partition a drive such that 10.2 is on one partion and 9.0 is on the other partition.

Enjoy the new system, and keep your eye out for 10.3 which is due out soon!!!!!!!!!!

I'm interested in how you can trick them into booting into OS9. With the drastically new mobo, I'd think it would be impossible, without a new ROM file and possibly other files. Where did you hear about that?
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

I remember reading this post and the first one that touched on the issue. Not sure about the validity of this statement, but I also remember crossing paths with the first post on the discussion page that mentioned how to do it

if i find it ill let you know, but this is where i get the info from....
Since your are interested in the G5 though, who knows if it will work on that machine since its the newest of the new.

I am a strong believer in an only OSX machine, the attempts were made with the later FW800 macs (but still ran classic). Personally Id embrace the day we toss the old forever, but I also hear you, the only reason i use OS9 is for dvdextractor, but im also trying to find a good OSX based application/method for doing what it does so well.
