Hello
I was wondering about MPEG-2 and VOBs. Now, a VideoCD is composed of several MPEG-1 tracks...right? What i don't fully understand is why DVDs don't simply use MPEG-2 tracks. Does MPEG-2 incorporate sound into the track like MPEG-1 does? This leads into my next question, which is What the heck is different between a VOB and an MPEG-2 track?
Are VOBs just an MPEG-2 video file with a sound file? I'm assuming it's the whole Digital Surround notion that makes MPEG-2 not the same as MPEG-1...whereas the video and audio are one...
who knows?

DVDs do indeed use tracks. A video title set in a DVD is the functional equivalent to an MPEG track in a VCD. A vob file in a DVD is the equivalent of a dat file in a VCD.
