Is it possible for a manufacturer to grab a DVD10 and make one side DVD-R and the other side DVD+R?

I don't understand the question since manufactured DVD discs are neither DVD-R nor DVD+R

If I understand you correctly, you want DVD-R on one side and DVD+R on the other -- from the manufacturer! Yes it's posible; but I doubt you'll ever see it.

Why bother? Most/All recent DVD players will either with no trouble; it's just the burning stage that matters. With prices falling, this seems moot to me.

  4. I think the original poster wants to make a sort of 'master check/comparison disc' with DVD-R on one side and DVD+R on the other so you can test it out in various standalones (guessing here).

Most new players are +- but most people have players that are + or -, not both. Personally based on my own personal non-random observations DVD-R is more supported on standalones than DVD+R.

  5. DVD-10 consist of two 0.6mm CD disks that have the reflective surface in the center. So basically it would be possible to have DVD-R on one and DVD+R on the other side.

But like Allan55 already mentioned it is unlikely to happen.

Both pressed discs and writeable discs are manufactured.

Why don't you just do the easy thing and get 1 regular disc of each kind, and put them in a 2-disc case?

Im just asking is it possible to take a DVD10 and have the dye on one side DVD-R and the dye on the other side DVD+R. It will be alot more handy than carrying 2 discs in a special case.

Possible ?, yes. Will manufacturers of writable discs ever make them ?, almost certainly not.

The last time I looked at double sided recordable DVD media the price for one double sided DVD-R was more than two single sided DVD-R discs. So even if someone makes a double sided disc that is DVD-R on one side and DVD+R on another it will probably be cheaper to just buy two single sided discs ... one in DVD-R format and one in DVD+R format.

You can buy standard sized DVD cases that hold 2 DVD discs. They don't take up anymore room (outside dimensions) than a normal single disc DVD case.
