  1. Sorry about the newbie question.
I converted a movie from avi to a really high quality mpeg and it took about 30 hours.
I made one mpeg file that is 1.8 gigs.
The reason I did that is sometimes when I try to batch with my TMPGEnc the program stops responding as I try to move the slider.
Anyway I went ahead and just made one large file.
What is the easiest way to split this file into <700mb svcds so I end up with 3 or 4 svcds.

In TMPGenc, go to File-> Mpeg Tools.

In Mpeg Tools, select Merge & Cut.

Add your file to the list, double click on the file name to open up the Source Range box, and select the range of the file you want to cut out. Since your file is 1.8Gb, you want to cut about 1/3 at a time. Cut the first third from the file.

Set an output name for your cut file. Hit Run. Let it run.

Now repeat the process - add the file to the list two more times, and select the middle third and the end third for the last two files.

  3. Another way is to use the multiplexing feature of bbMPEG and set the maximum file size to 700 MB, but you have to first de-multiplex the .mpg file you made into its two audio/video components.
