mpeg4/avi to mpeg 1 or 2 conversions????

I was wondering if anyone knows how to convert a divx avi
file (also mpeg 4) to an mpeg 1 or 2 file?

ANY help would be appreciated.

use ffmpegX (just use the presets)

or

use quicktime:
1. avi -> divx doctor -> mov (check for audio/video sync)
2. mov -> mpg1 (using toast's vcd export - assuming you have toast)
or
2. mov -> mpg2 (using quicktime's mpg2 export which you have to buy)
