Software for a slide show

My wife is trying to make a genealogy slide show for her family. She has bought DVD PHOTOPLAY and now, ULEAD DVD PITCURE SHOW. When the slide show was made with DVD PHOTOPLAY, there was a problem with the audio. I eliminated the audio and the pitcures played fine. I double checked the audio file and it is 44.1khz, compiled with GOLDWAVE.

When the show was done with DVD Pitcure show, the pitcures do not pop right onto the screen, they kind of weave their way down from the top. Music does play though.

I like the DVD PHOTOPLAY for the way it presents the pictures but I want to add music. Any suggestions on how to fix the music problem?

Are there any programs, other than PowerPoint, that are very good for slide shows? Features such as pitcures poping right onto screen, capable of more than 99 slides per show, audio that works.

ULead's Picture Show II will do what you want -- if that's what you have you need to just select it so you have no transitions (that's the default in PSII, so perhaps you have PS1). You can always download a free trial of any Ulead product, so if you don't have version 2 go ahead and download it and give it a shot (the trial version will allow you to do everything but is limited to only a few slides per show -- however it will give you an idea of whether it's what you want).
