If you've created it, you ought to know?!? MPEG2 at CVD resolution + 48 kHz audio and you're fine! Final step is to author, and see if it plays.

If you used 352x480 then it's in CVD resolution which is DVD compliant.
48K audio is standard for DVD,but IFOEDIT .95 will author using 44100 audio, but you need to check that your DVD player can play DVD with 44100 audio. Question,if your doing it for DVD why not use 720x480,that will give you far better resolution. The only reason I can see for 352x480 as DVD is to ward off artifacts caused by very low bitrate.

In addition to resolution you also have to ensure that the maximum number of frames per GOP does not exceed 18 for NTSC and 15 for PAL. If you simply unlocked the SVCD template in TMPGenc and changed your resolution, than your CVD is not DVD compliant.

Also, TMPGenc appears to have a bug in this area. Even when you set the max number of frames per GOP to 18, it will still use more, making your disk not comply with the DVD standard. The only way to prevent this seems to be to set the GOPs to closed. All of this can be found on the GOP Structure tab.

  5. Hello again,

I have burned the CVD mpeg as SVCD with NERO.
    I use CD-R, cause i don't want to waste my DVD-R

When NERO loaded the CVD mpeg NERO detected it was not a compliant SVCD file. OK we know it's not because CVD = 352 X 480/586.

So i click on ' Turn off standard compliance and continue '
    then burnt*

Yes my DVD player played the movie without any problem.
Does this means i could burn my CVD mpeg files to my DVD-R ?

    Thanks again.
