I smoke a pack of day and I'm proud of it...
...eventually the nice coating of tar on my lungs will make me immune to Poisonous gasses. Someday I hope to settle mars. -

I used to dip in high school and part of what would have been my college years. None of that sissy Skoal for me, either. Copenhagen, baby.
It's pretty nasty to dip in the bars, so I would bum smokes off my friends when we went out.
I also used to smoke weed on the weekends with my friends, until a few years ago.
Nowadays, I don't even get to drink. I had A beer yesterday, with the guy who works in the shop next to me. I was never a heavy drinker, but I would enjoy a few drinks at least a few times a week before my son was born. It's not a bad thing, but I do miss that time of the day from time to time. -
I used to smoke tobacco and weed back in the 70's. Gave both up. I have had too many friends and relatives die from lung cancer.
And weed never really did any more for me than a few beers or a couple of glasses of wine.
Right now, alcohol is my drug of choice, and I try to do that in moderation. I have a small winery in my basement, so my addiction just costs me about $1 per liter.
What's a pack of Marlboro go for these days? When I was smoking, it was around $0.50
How about weed? When I smoked, it was around $20 an ounce for the good stuff. You could get home-grown even cheaper.
Of course gasoline was only $0.49 a gallon then too!Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
A pack of 20 is approaching the £5 mark in the uk, I smoke very light menthol cigs, but less than 10 a day.

I used to smoke about a carton per week, but I quit 2 years ago this coming august.

It is an arrestable offence for supply though.

not sure where everyone lives, but down here the fact is, damn near everyone either smokes weed, sells weed, or does both. As far as weedvendor goes...I honestly think it's pretty dumb to come on a message board and say you sell weed...it's obvious if he does sell..it's a nic here and there makin' chump change...unless there's somethin' really wrong with him..if he's sellin heavy shit and comin' on a fuckin' forum sayin' he's sellin' it....there's somethin' wrong with him.....
but I do agree with him on the fact that i've never heard of anyone dyin' from puffin a blunt or bong or however you like to inhale it....lol.....and that's why I got no probz hittin' it up....but as far as cigarettes...nah..never messed with em'....probably because I played sports and knew it would screw up my endurance....couldn't let some cancer sticks do that to me....smoke.....pass....smoke...smoke...smoke...sm oke...nothin' left to pass... -
Im not lying. I occasionaly do it sometimes. Not every day but I can say what I want in a forum. This isnt something like the Alien and seduction acts that goes against free speech. Heck everyone I know did weed once in his or her life.
-
I agree you have free speech and that wasn't my point....I was just saying that I don't know how it would make sense to say you sell weed on a DVD FORUM...or a forum for any matter...but as I said..not sure where everyone else lives...but some seem stunned at you selling......as I said..down here every corner...convenience store...gas station..has someone sellin' somethin'.....anyway, hope you are makin' a decent profit..and remember the #1 rule...don't get high off your own supply!

It's a difficult argument, really. On the one hand, those who argue for weed can say that the use of marijuana has not directly caused the death of the user. Whereas it will take about 200ml of pure ethanol to make you very drunk, it only takes a few milligrams of THC (the active ingredient in marijuana, trans-delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol) to get you very stoned. The concentration of alcohol in your body required to achieve this extreme mind-altering effect are very high, to the extent that various tissues including nervous tissue are damaged. With THC, however, you will pass out before you overdose (not so with alcohol normally). Also, those few milligrams of THC is such a small concentration that it causes minimal damage to tissues in the body.
However, THC is a highly phychoactive drug, imitating anandamide and binding to specific receptors in the hippocampus, cerebellum and the basal ganglia. This is why people who are stoned experience loss of short-term memory, co-ordinated movement and, due to THC affecting the hypothalamus, the user gets the "munchies". Receptors are also found throughout the body, and THC has an impact on the endocrine (hormone-producing) systems, and the immune system. Supression of such systems can result in poor health. Any drug that has this potent impact on the user does suggest that long-term use will carry severe consequences. However, there is currently a lack of solid evidence to support this, and that theory may even be disproven by such studies.
As for the "slippery slope" theory, it depends on the person. Marijuana, although not physically addictive, can become phychologically addictive. When people use it as an escape route, it can become tempting to use it more and more regularly, until the person feels they want to use it constantly. The extent to which this can happen will depend very much on the person. The same applies to weed leading to harder drugs - this depends on the person. I know a few people in my local area who are constantly stoned, but they don't want to use anything else. Some people, on the other hand, are thrillseekers and will jump at the opportunity to get a bigger hit. Watch Trainspotting, and you'll see.
As I say, it's a very difficult subject to argue either way due to a lack of scientific studies and evidence. Personally, I haven't ever tried weed, but I don't have anything against people who use it sensibly either.
Take it easy,

Smoked a few in my college days. However, after i got out of college I began working for the National Cancer Institute, specifically in a Lung Cancer Clinic.
After seeing how bad it is to die from lung cancer and watching several resections (surgery to go in and remove the cancer from the lung) and actually seeing what a cancer filled lung looks like I vowed to never touch a cigarette or cigar again!
Stopping was easy though, i didnt but smoke maybe 1 cigarette a day, if that even
Ive since left that job but it still sits in my mind.......
(picture of lung with Tar (black) and cancer (white). Where is the lung tissue then?!?!?!?!

I've lost a couple of friends and one uncle from lung cancer. Not a pleasant way to die!
My uncle suffered from emphasyma(spelling?) for about 15 years before finally passsing on.
I just wish my parents could quit. At the rate they are going, they are not going to be able to see any great-grandchildrenJust what is this reality thing anyway? -
I never understood the point of smoking. In High-School everyone else was doing it, which made me not want to do it more. Rebel!! PUNK POWER!!!
