  1. I have a problem in that I have an avi that has divx5 pro video codec encode at 800Kbs, with 25 FPS and resolution size is 576 x 268.

Audio is stereo mpeg layer 3 at 128 kbit/s and 44100Khz sound.

When I encode the sound plays, but the video plays on a loop at the beginning showing the opening sequence.

I cannot seem to overcome this obstacle, gspot shows all codec installed, anyone know what I am doing wrong? I know it must be something simple but what?

    Thanks in advance, Tom

  4. dvd2svcd is okay but its all in the name!! dvd 2 svcd!!! try using tmpgenc, it has template for pal and ntsc vcds, also take your avi into virtualdub and check for bad frames incase there is a corrupt frame that is catching your encoding and screwing with the encoder!

tmpgenc can handle most avi files aslong as you have the codecs installed whether it be xvid/divx/ogm files. make sure you have directshow filter has top priority say 2/3 otherwise tmpgenc might stick in the middle of an encode! i assume your not trying to do anything fancy like switchable subtitles or anything???

  5. thanks for that info, but last time I did this in tmpg it still screwed up! anyway will have a go and post results. You should also note that DVD2SVCD does convert avi's to svcd!

    Cheers Tom

  6. i never said dvd2avi couldn't do it, its just not suited to doing it there are better tools! eg tmpgenc. anyway check your avi for bad frames if you insist on using dvd2avi that probably your best bet!
