    Is this even possible? Would you have to convert from MPEG-4 to uncompressed back to MPEG-2? That would no doubt take a LONG time....Any easy straight conversions? Maybe to MPEG-1 even?

    Is anyone trying to do this, or at least hoping to?

    its been discussed many times.

    There's not just one, but many ways to do it.
    and it does take some time, since its an encoding process

    ffmpegx is the best for this process

    sorry cant be more detailed at the moment, but its been covered heavily before, may have to actually go to page 2 or 3 of this forum.
