  1. a friend of mine gave me a vcd it plays fine on my pc (avseq1 on mediaplayer and all that) to make it play
    but when i or he puts it in a dvd it says no disc. (this vcd does not play )
    could the problem be he encoded it in ntsc (i live in the uk)
    if so how can i tell?
    what do you think the problem could be??

  2. No, first of all most UK DVD players that will play VCD on CDR media will play NTSC disc properly, and secondly if you had one that did not it would still play but it would be in black and white. 2 questions.

    Is your DVD player capable of playing VCD's, not all are.

    Is your player capable of playing CDR/RW, again, not all are.

  8. OK try extracting the mpeg from the VCD using VCDgear, it is available on this site under the tools section, you can then check to see if the mpeg is VCD compliant. You could then try reauthoring it using nero and recreating the VCD. I suspect that it may be a non standard XVCD that your player cannot play, if this is the case nero will complain about the file not being VCD compatible. You could then always reencode it to standard VCD specs using TMPGEnc and creating a standard VCD which should play on your player, this will lead to a slight loss in quality but it should play.

  9. did it using vcd gear no problem then re burnt it in nero .nero didnt come up with any errors .
    works fine in my dvd cheers
    could the problem be his version of nero
    or could it have been the type of blank media he used (fugi film cdr)
    please help

    its really starting to bug him
