  1. Hello,

I need help from people who has made CVD using TMPGEnc.
I need an instruction step by step.

I have just purchased a DVD burner, i have read that CVD could be burned into DVD-R and it watchable using DVD player wihtout any problem.
Thats why i want to put multiple movies on one DVD-R.

I do have the experience how to convert those files to VCD & SVCD.
But i need the instruction how to convert to CVD.

    thanks alot.

Only diff (in practice) between SVCD and CVD is the hor resolution: 352 instead of 480. In every other respect, you just follow the SVCD method. While you're at it, go for 48 kHz audio, since that's what's expected from a DVD compliant mpeg, and almost every DVD player can use 48 kHz as (S)VCD/CVD audio too.

  3. download dvd2svcd from www.dvd2svcd.org. This app will convert your divx files (avi) to CVD without a lot of manual intervention from you. You can then drop them into any authoring application and burn them to DVD-R. I have been doing that for a few months now.

Here is a link to one of my websites that walks you through the process as far as the settings (with pictures) http://www.dewayneward.0catch.com/CVDindex.htm

here is the site for doing dvdr with dvd2svcd:
    http://www.dewayneward.0catch.com/DVDRindex.htm

If you are going from divx, the only change that you will need to make is on the misc tab, change DVD to avi and you should be good to go. Also this is for NTSC (dont know if your stuff or you are in a PAL area).

  4. start tmpeg, load your avi, and choose the dvd templete.
unlock the templete so you can make changes,
in the video tab change the resolution from 720X576 / 480
to 352X576 or 352X480 (pal or ntsc).
select the bitrate that you want and just convert.

DONT use the svcd templete because the GOP's are wrong for dvd.

author as dvd in whatever program you use.

  5. Thank you for the replies.

    one more question.

Do i have to burn the output mpeg as SVCD ?

  6. actually, no. When you dump the CVD into an authoring program, like movie factory 2, you just leave it as a native mpeg2. Then just add the menus and whatnot.

If you are actually planning to burn the CVD using nero, you would burn it as SVCD, however, turn off compliance as it will say it is non compliant for SVCD.

  7. you are trying to burn it on a dvdr
so author it as a dvd with the software you got with the burner or whatever you use.
you are actualy making a 1/2 D1 dvd if you are using the method
    that i showed you.
and it is compliant if you do it that way.

there is no sence in making a real cvd and putting it on a dvdr as a svcd.

the resolution is the same the way i showed you,
the bitrate is whatever you want it to be, and it is compliant.

you get the same qulity AND you stay compliant,
so why try and burn it as a svcd ???
