  1. Here is a question I have not seen yet. What software do you use for the playback of a DV (recording/capture) from the hard drive? I know that most of the capture cards captures can be played back by either Zoomplayer or Windows Media Player.

Will these work with DV also?

  2. as long as you have a dv codec you can play it in any media player that will play avi files. I prefer bsplayer since you can change aspect ratio's and such if you tape something in wide screen or something.

  3. What is bsplayer?

  4. Forget about the above question, I found out all about it.

Which DV codec do you recommend and where can I get it? I would like to have everything installed and ready when I get either the ADVC100 or the DAC100.

  5. You don't need to install a codec unless you use type 2 DV avi. Windoes Media Player can play DV. Power DVD does a better job of playing DV as it de-interlaces DV upon playback (which looks better on a computer).

  6. Now isn't the Type 2 DV supposed to give the best picture quality? I do not think I can use PowerDVD. My TV is set for 1280x720 and the minimum size for Power DVD is 768.

  7. Type 2 isn't really better but some program require it. There is no harm in installing one DV codec. For example, you can install the Panasonic DV codec. I am not sure about PowerDVD but I assume that it would still work.

Hey, Psychoace, it's a good thing that plurals (more than one of something, such as the word "ratios") actually DON'T have apostrophes in them, isn't it?

You can only have one vfw DV codec installed at a time. Not so much an issue for DirectShow codecs

@ mats.hogberg: Hmm... THAT from someone who thinks it's only 4 months old instead of actually 4 years old!

(I only bumped into it the other day, though.)

"Whatever, dude..." Not gonna hurt anything to say that to them...
